The framework / 10 steps

The Career
Change Method.

Not the forever decision. Your next intelligent move, built on evidence, financial clarity, and a compelling vision of who you want to become.

Steps 1 and 2

01

Envision, then assess

Start with the life, not the job title.

Career confusion doesn't necessarily mean you don't know what you want. Often it means the life or career you built no longer fits the person you're becoming.

So the tool starts with the life, an extraordinary Tuesday three years from now, what you'd want if nobody were impressed by your title, then gets honest about where you actually stand, rating your current career across nine dimensions.

Steps 3 and 4

02

Find the gap, explore the futures

Preserve. Develop. Release.

Changing your career doesn't require throwing away everything you've built. You'll map what to preserve, what to develop, and what to release.

Then, instead of forcing one answer, you'll sketch three to five possible futures: Optimize, Expand, Pivot, Experiment, Reinvent.

Steps 5 and 6

03

Test it, then fund it

Collect evidence. Turn fear into math.

You don't have to quit your job to find out whether something else might work. You'll design one 30 to 90 day experiment and decide in advance what evidence you'll collect.

Then the money gets named out loud: your minimum monthly number, your comfortable number, your runway, your transition cost, and your income bridge, with conservative, expected and upside scenarios.

Steps 7 and 8

04

Become, and build your team

Three development priorities. Five kinds of people.

Your next chapter may require a different version of you, so you'll choose exactly three development priorities, each with a way to practice and a way to know you're improving.

And you won't do it alone: a Truth Teller, an Expert, a Connector, a Supporter and an Accountability Partner, plus a decision about whose opinions no longer get a vote.

Steps 9 and 10

05

Execute, then reassess

The next decision, not the forever decision.

You don't need a five-year plan. You need your next 90 intelligent days: one hypothesis, one experiment, one financial goal, one development goal, one relationship goal.

At the end of 90 days you look at the evidence and decide what comes next: stay, adjust, expand, experiment again, pivot, or leave. You don't need absolute certainty. You need enough clarity to make the next intelligent move.

Financial clarity

Why the money is part of the method

Most ambitious professionals do not stay stuck because they lack a vision. They stay stuck because the vision has no funding plan. The tool calculates your real monthly cost of living, how many months your savings would carry you, the bridge fund that makes a transition survivable, and the month you reach it. Courage is easier with a number.

This method, lived

I'm Amanda Johansen, a former Fortune 50 enterprise sales leader turned certified coach. I spent two decades building a highly successful corporate career before realizing the life I had worked so hard to create no longer fit the person I had become.

I grew up in rural Mississippi and built my way from a dirt road to leading complex, high-stakes deals with some of the world's largest companies. I understand both the power of ambition and what happens when success stops feeling like success.

Today I help accomplished professionals step outside the life they were told to want, reconnect with what they actually want now, and intentionally define what comes next.
